ELEMENTARY-II: SUMMARY

Build on your Elementary-I foundation, and earn certification to guide 9 through 12 year olds as they continue their adventures in learning about the world around us.  Adult Learners who complete this course and either already have their American Montessori Society (AMS) Elementary-I credential, or sucessfully complete their MMTTC Elementary-I program will be recommended to AMS for their Elementary I-II credential.

Prerequisites:

  • Membership in American Montessori Society (AMS)
  • AMS Montessori Certification in Elementary-I (from an AMS affiliated program) or current enrollment in MMTTC’s Elementary-I program

ELEMENTARY II: SCHEDULE

PHASE I (Summer 2023)

Monday, June 26 - Friday, July 28, 2023
Hours: Monday - Friday 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM with 1/2 hour for lunch.
Independence Day Holiday – No class on Tuesday, July 4th.

Location: Riverwoods Montessori School, 3140 Riverwoods Rd., Riverwoods, IL 60015

Lecture – Demonstrations of the Montessori Elementary-II curriculum and further discussions of the Montessori elementary philosophy.

PHASE II (School Year 2023-24)

  • Institutes - Two, 3-day institutes (Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays), one in fall 2023 and one in winter 2024.

ELEMENTARY II: FACULTY

 

AUDRA FUNK

Audra is an experienced AMS Montessori certified Elementary I-II teacher and administrator.  Audra received her Elementary I and II certification at MMTTC.  She is currently a Montessori consultant and lecturer and is the Elementary II Language instructor for MMTTC.

GWEN HARRIS M.ED

Gwen is an experienced AMS Montessori certified Early Childhood, Elementary I and II and Secondary I teacher and administrator.  Gwen received her Early Childhood, Elementary I and II and Secondary I certification at MMTTC.  She is currently a Montessori teacher, consultant and lecturer and is the Elementary I Geometry and Elementary II Natural Science and Geography/History instructor for MMTTC.  Gwen is also the MMTTC Elementary I and II Coordinator.

KIRSTEN NORDHAUS M.ED

Kirsten is an AMS Montessori certified Elementary I and II teacher.  Kirsten received her Elementary I and II certification at MMTTC.  She is currently an instructor apprentice and lecturer under Gwen Harris in Elementary II Geography/History and Science.

W. MICHAEL KUNERT PhD

Dr. Kunert, the Administrative Director of MMTTC, lectures on Montessori philosophy, physical education and personnel development.  Michael received his PhD from Northwestern University and the AMS Montessori Administrator certification at MMTTC.

ROBERT SCOTT KAMOWSKI

Robert (Scott) is an experienced AMS Montessori certified Elementary I-II teacher and administrator.  Robert received his Elementary I - II certification at MMTTC.   He is currently a Montessori consultant and lecturer and is the Elementary II Mathematics and Geometry instructor for MMTTC.
